Announcement

Rosemary Gould is announcing that after 10 years as trustee and 6 as chair she has decided to step down at the end of 2017. At their meeting on 3 November 2017 the trustees resolved to appoint Sir William Fittall as trustee with effect from 1 January with a view to being appointed chair at their first meeting in the New Year. Here are Rosemary Gould’s parting words:

“Guiding the trust over the last 6 years has been a challenge because we realised we had to make significant changes if it was to become sustainable as a service to the community. It was very pleasing to receive a national governance award last year, as well as the top award for running a well managed village hall. But even more satisfying has been the huge increase in the number local people regularly enjoying the use of the hall. I am glad, too, that we have continued a programme of improvements to the 8 almshouses, and to the gardens surrounding them. I’m particularly pleased we were able to invite Saltwood scouts as guests to use our fallow land for their outdoor activities … and they seem very appreciative. The changes we made would not have been possible without the unity of the board and the efficient and diligent work of volunteers and our small staff, which I greatly appreciate.

I am delighted that someone of the calibre of Sir William has agreed to take over as chair of the trust and to take it forward in the next phase of its service to the community, and I wish him, the trustees and staff every success.”
